We’re so looking forward to seeing you!

Welcome Wednesday Artists!

We're really looking forward to getting started with our next All Abilities course, and hope you are too!  Here is some final information for you, so you know what to expect and what to bring.

The classes take place at St Patrick’s Church, Wallington. You can find directions here. You can park for free in the car park in front of the building, and in most of the surrounding streets (but please check local signage). We use the large hall at the rear of the building.  Please enter via the front doors and head down the corridor to the lounge area, where you will see our Art For Life banner.

The classes start at 10am and 2pm (depending on which class you booked for). If you arrive early, you're welcome to relax in the lounge and get to know your fellow students while you're waiting for the class to start. If you arrive more than 10 minutes early for your class, please wait in the front foyer.

Your Tutors

Our Wednesday tutors are the wonderful Emma, Kate and Alison.  And our class assistants are Lauren and Julie.  There will be 2 team members in class each week. You can find out a bit more about us all here.

Everyone attends the classes for different reasons, but you're all on a journey and the tutors are there to help each person make progress.  So please don't hesitate to ask for help, and let us know if you don't understand something - there’s no such thing as a silly question! And please don't feel anxious about your first class - everyone's very friendly and the tutors are there to help you enjoy yourself as well as learn!

Curriculum, Term Dates and other Useful Info

You can find a copy of the curriculum and term dates for all classes in the 'Students' section of the website. The password is artrocks.  We will have paper copies of the curriculum and term dates at the class, if you'd like one.  If there are any dates you can't do and would like to swap to another class, please let us know and we will check availability for you.

Also in the Students’ section, you will find a link to our store where you can buy some branded Art For Life goodies! We highly recommend the ‘Artisan Apron’ (found under Accessories) for £22.99.

In addition we have a Student Gallery that we update each week so you can see the work from the artists across all of our classes.

Please note - we take photos for our website and social media pages to share what we’re doing. Please let us know beforehand if you’d rather not be included.

Art Materials and Course Notes

All of the art materials and paper you’ll need in class are included in the cost of the course.  We also have a selection of rubbers, rulers, scissors and sharpeners for you to share but you're welcome to bring your own if you wish. Please make sure you label your own belongings so we know who to return them to if you leave something behind by mistake.

At your first lesson you will be given a folder containing 10 Starter Fact Sheets, which are full of useful information you can refer to at any time. Please remember to bring your folder as most weeks you'll receive additional sheets which help with the lesson, and it’s so handy to refer to in class. It would also be helpful if you could bring your own mug for the tea/coffee break.

You're also welcome to bring a small sketch book (up to A4 size) in which to make notes and sketch out or plan your artwork.  We'll have some for sale at the class should you wish to buy one.

We also sell carry cases (£5) and jute bags (£4) to keep your work safe, as well as a selection of art materials relating to each week’s project should you wish to buy any paints or accessories for use at home.  You can pay with a card, cheque or cash.  (Please note you don't need to buy anything!  It just saves you taking a trip to the shops and wondering what to choose, as we have tried and tested lots of products over the years and know what is worth the money and what isn’t!)

Additional Activities

In addition to our courses, we run occasional art evenings, workshops and free social events like Plein Air painting or Gallery visits.  You can find these here or on our social media pages, and we let you know about them via email too.  We have an exciting range of options coming up for you this term, and we'll let you know more about each one over the next few weeks. Let us know if you have any questions about any of the above, and we look forward to seeing you at the first class!
